The exhibition of twenty portraits has two drivers Aesthetics and Information. To serve these two requires clarity of style and up to date research. The objective is to reach and appeal to as wide an audience as possible so as to inform, improve awareness at governments' human rights abuses, bear witness and be a common platform for disparate human rights champions.
The purpose of painting the heads of the human rights champions in black impasto oil paint is to make their absences more conspicuous.
When all paintings are complete, public awareness of the champions' plight and their country's governance will be raised through exhibitions, through print, broadcast, internet exposure and educational programmes.
When confirmed, the date and location of the first exhibition of The Black Portraits will be published on this site.
